BlueBird Yoga

BlueBird Yoga

When Sarah and I started to create BlueBird Yoga's logo in 2010, we had to decide what it was that we wanted this place to be... in one image.  Neither of us had experience in marketing and the concept of "a brand" was like "huh?".   So, for us, it wasn't the easiest task in the world.  But we took our time, we took it seriously, and we really thought long and hard about what we wanted to offer the world through our logo.  We wanted Warm, Welcoming, Friendly, Safe, Inviting.  We wanted Familiarity with the invitation for Adventure.  We wanted Kind where Courage could learn to take flight.  We wanted the Stability and Shelter of an ages old practice coupled with the Potential for Growth, Expansion, and the Desire to Reach Higher.   The image that summed this up for us was our strong and fluid tree with all of the sweetness and potential of a Blue Bird about to take flight.  We loved it.  And it has served us well.

Over the course of 8ish years, there has been evolution, which is only natural.  But only recently, did we start to realize that the logo we created in 2010 was the image of what we Wanted.  Past tense Wanted.  It was the image of what we hoped we could offer before we opened.  It was the image of "maybe this is what we can give through yoga."  We realized that we aren't looking toward that image, off in the distance, anymore... we are IN it.  The seed was planted.  The tree has grown.  Our community is rooted.  It is strong and brave and committed and loving beyond anything we could have EVER imagined.  We knew it was time to evolve the way that BlueBird was presented.

Alas, our new logo.  It's simpler and symmetrical.  It's established and, simultaneously, in motion.  It is at once grounding and evolving.  We believe it will stand the test of time.  Just like this practice.  If you look closely, it resembles the shape of a nest from above.  A warm, welcoming, friendly, safe space that is big enough for all of us... those who have been around for years and those yet to walk through our doors.

Sarah and I started this thing, but YOU have made BlueBird Yoga what it is.  The beauty, laughter, sweat, tears, and spirit that permeate the walls of this space are yours.  Thank you for filling our studio, our hearts, this little love nest with your light.  It is potent.  It is powerful.  It is transformational. It is empty without you.  And everything with you.

We love you.  We appreciate you.  We honor you.
Ellen, Sarah, and BlueBird
